received on a connected
printer.

Are the instruments switched on and the
connection cables plugged in properly?

Is the printer set to "on-line"?

Are baud rate, data bit and parity set identically on
both instruments?

Is the handshake set properly?
No data transfer occurs and
an error message appears in
the display.

: Transmission error. Is the cable used
correctly wired and plugged in? Is the printer
switched on and set to "on-line"?

: Data output disabled for more than 3 s by
XOFF.

: Receive error. Are the RS232 parameters
set identically on both instruments?
The characters received are
garbled.
