MAINTENANCE
Battery
Battery Installation
1. Before installing the battery, make sure it’s fully charged
and clean.
2. Tip the battery into position in the battery tray with positive
(+) terminal to rear of motorcycle as shown.
3. Connect the positive (+) battery cables, tighten securely and
install the red boot.
4. Connect the negative (--) cables, tighten securely. Be sure
cables have adequate side cover clearance.
• Connecting the negative cable first can produce an electric shock that could result in damage or injury.
• Connecting the battery cables to the wrong terminals can severely damage the electrical system.
Caution
5. Reinstall the battery cover.
6. Reinstall the left side cover.
Universal Tool
The universal tool is located in a holder on the battery retaining bracket. The universal tool is a combination 6mm
hexagonal wrench with a #2 Phillips screwdriver tip, and can be used to service many items on the motorcycle.
