- PRINCIPAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE VIDEO
TAPE-RECORDER
Due to the "BETACAM SP" format, the TTV 3505 video type-recorder offers very high
quality vision and sound.
• Use of "metal" tape
The use of a "metal" tape enables high quality recording to be obtained. Oxide tapes are
used only for standard, non-SP recording. The recorder automatically detects the tape
type, metal or oxide.
• 4-channel audio recording-playback
When a metal tape is used, 2 frequency modulated sound channels (AFM) can be
recorded on a chrominance track using a "multiplexed" frequency in addition to the
conventional 2-channel audio recording on the longitudinal tracks (LNG).
AFM recording enables a wide dynamic range, offering very high sound quality under
difficult conditions.
• Audio and video "confidence" playback
During recording, the luminance playback image can be monitored in the viewfinder.
Both CTDM compressed chrominance signals can also be separately monitored. This
function is useful in ensuring that recording is taking place normally.
• Recording review function
After rewinding, the last seconds of the recording can be replayed to check the previous
recording.
• Built-in encoded time Generator/Reader
The longitudinal time code (LTC) and the vertical interval time code (VITC) can be
recorded and, in addition, the LTC can be played back.
Real time (actual time) can be recorded on the VITC user bit.
• Time code slave locking
The built-in time code generator can be locked to an external time code generator.
• Camera audio level adjustment
The channel 1 audio recording level can be monitored and adjusted on the camera
viewfinder.
• Dolby ® type C noise suppression circuit
The Dolby ® type C noise suppression system is used to improve the signal-to-noise
ratio and to widen the dynamic range.
