The tow vehicle
is not wired to provide HC+, HC-, and D+ inputs to
the trailer.
The trailer
is wired to accept HC+, HC-, and D+ inputs from the tow
vehicle.
Trailer Wiring:

out to HC+
Orange :
out to engine run (D+)
Purple (LC+) : to house / leisure battery (positive)
Black (LC-) : to house / leisure battery (negative)
The refrigerator will not operate in DC mode with
this wiring configuration.
Part No. 636313A (10/9/2013)
The tow vehicle
is wired to provide HC+, HC-, and D+ inputs to the
trailer and the trailer
is wired to accept HC+, HC-, and D+ inputs
from the tow vehicle.
D+ is an “engine run” signal that is only present
while the engine of the tow vehicle is running.
Tow Vehicle Wiring:
HC+ : a fused wire from the vehicle battery (positive)
HC- : a wire from vehicle battery (negative)
D+ : a wire from D+ of alternator (+12V when engine is
running)
Trailer Wiring:
White :
out to HC-
Red :
out to HC+
Orange :
out to engine run (D+)
Purple (LC+) : to house / leisure battery (positive)
Black (LC-) : to house / leisure battery (negative)
NOTICE
The tow vehicle
is not wired to provide HC+, HC-, and D+ inputs to
the trailer.
The trailer
is not wired to accept HC+, HC-, and D+ inputs from the
tow vehicle.
Trailer Wiring:
White :
not wired
Red :
not wired
Orange :
not wired
Purple (LC+) : to house / leisure battery (positive)
Black (LC-) : to house / leisure battery (negative)
The refrigerator will not operate in DC mode with
this wiring configuration.
NOTICE
Refrigerator theory of operation:
At any time, while the engine of the tow vehicle is
running, the refrigerator will operate in Auto DC mode.
If the engine of the tow vehicle stops running, the
refrigerator will automatically change to the Auto Gas
mode.
When the engine of the tow vehicle
stops running (the D+ signal is no
longer available) the refrigerator gas
valve and igniter outputs cease for
15 minutes. After 15 minutes, the
refrigerator gas valve and igniter
outputs resume.
If the trailer is connected to shore power, the
refrigerator will operate in Auto AC mode.
Refrigerator theory of operation:
When the trailer is connected to shore power, the
refrigerator will operate in Auto AC mode.
When the refrigerator is disconnected from shore
power, the refrigerator will operate in Auto Gas mode.
Because the tow vehicle
is not wired to provide HC+,
HC-, and D+ inputs to the trailer, the refrigerator
will
not operate in DC mode.
Refrigerator theory of operation:
When the trailer is connected to shore power, the
refrigerator will operate in Auto AC mode.
When the refrigerator is disconnected from shore
power, the refrigerator will operate in Auto Gas mode.
Because the tow vehicle
is not wired to provide HC+,
HC-, and D+ inputs to the trailer and the trailer
is not
wired to accept the HC+, HC-, and D+ inputs from the
tow vehicle, the refrigerator
will not operate in DC
mode.

Recommended Trailer Wiring - Norcold N3100 Series Refrigerators
Wiring Scheme 1
This figure shows the recommended trailer and
tow vehicle wiring and
does let the refrigerator
operate in all three (3) modes.
Wiring Scheme 2
This figure shows the recommended trailer wiring
only and
does not let the refrigerator operate
in DC mode. It
does let the consumer change
the tow vehicle wiring, to match that of Wiring
Scheme 1, at a later date.
Wiring Scheme 3
This figure shows optional trailer wiring and
does
not let the refrigerator operate in DC mode. It
also
does not let the consumer change the tow
vehicle wiring, to match that of Wiring Scheme 1,
at a later date.
