Connecting to a tV with a DVi Jack
Using an HDMI-DVI cable (not included), connect the HDMI OUT terminal on the rear of the DVD Recorder to
the DVI IN terminal of your TV.
An HDMI to DVI connection requires a separate audio connection, using the audio cables, connect the
AUDIO (red and white) OUT (AV OUT) terminals on the rear of the DVD Recorder to the AUDIO (red and white)
IN terminals of your TV. Turn on the DVD Recorder and TV.
Press the input selector on your TV remote control until the DVI signal from the DVD Recorder appears on
your TV screen.

Why does Samsung use HDMI?
AnalogTVsrequireananalogvideo/audiosignal.However,whenplayingaDVD,thedatatransmittedtoaTVis
digital.Thereforeeitheradigital-to-analogconverter(intheDVDRecorder)orananalog-to-digitalconverter(inthe
TV)isrequired.Duringthisconversion,thepicturequalityisdegradedduetonoiseandsignalloss.HDMItechnology
issuperiorbecauseitrequiresnodigital-to-analogconversionandisapuredigitalsignalfromtheDVDRecorderto
yourTV.
What is the HDCP?
HDCP(High-bandwidthDigitalContentProtection)isasystemforprotectingDVDcontentoutputviaHDMIfrombeing
copied.Itprovidesasecuredigitallinkbetweenavideosource(PC,DVD.etc)andadisplaydevice(TV,projector.etc).
Contentisencryptedatthesourcedevicetopreventunauthorizedcopiesfrombeingmade.
